Economic activities involving the management of natural resources and associated to environmental protection have generated 21.81 billion euros in 2017, i.e. 6% more than the previous year. This data has translated into a GDP increase of up to 1.87% accompanied by a 2.6% increase in job creation in this sector. The activity with the greatest impact on the growth rate was the energy, gas, steam and A/C supply sector, although the supply of water, drainage, and waste management and decontamination activities was also relevant.
The environmental economy already represents almost 2% of Spain’s GDP
Gross Value Added associated to environmental services and goods production has increased by 6% in 2017 and has generated 274,000 jobs in our country.
